Research and Website Update
Posted on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 2:56 pm CST
Whew! It's been a long few months with quite a few grant proposals, but now that the season is finally over, I'll be able to post more updates.
To help facilitate that, I've been working on a new, web-based form, along with cryptographically-hashed, password-based authentication. We'll see how it works. So far, I'm still fighting a bit with the input, as I can't seem to directly input HTML tags (since it messes with the HTML forms). But, things should be up and running soon. :-)
(Pre-)Applying for a Pew Foundation Scholars Program
Posted on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 12:10 pm CDT
I'm pre-applying for the Pew Foundation Scholars in the Biomedical Sciences Program, a program dedicated to fostering the research careers for young innovators who are willing to take risks on creative approaches to human health. The UT Health Science Center is only allowed to nominate one application, so I have to make it past the internal selection panel first. Regardless of the outcome, I'm gratefulfor the opportunity to practice my writing skills for a more general medical audience, as well as to formulate and sharpen our research goals for our new collaboration with the Corey lab at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. So, back to work! :-) -- Paul
Giving Two Talks in Nebraska in November

I'm very excited to be giving my first two (post-PhD) invited talks at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in November. I'll present some of my recent cancer modeling and simulation research at the mathematical biology seminar on Thursday, November 15th at 2:30pm, and I'll give a talk on the current state of integrative cancer modeling at the mathematical department colloquium at 4:00pm on Friday, November 16th. I'm grateful to Allan Donsig for his invitation and gracious support and advice. -- Paul
Website is Live!

Thanks to some great work by David Ha at SHIS , my research page is up and accessible to the outside world. Hello, world. :-)
We'll use the PHP code that I'm testing and finalizing here as the basis of our Cristini Lab website in the coming weeks. Sandeep Sanga has already done some great development work on the content of that new site, so hopefully we should have something up an running very soon.
Work is accelerating in a very good way here. As you can see from my collaborators page , I'm getting involved in an increasing number of projects in cooperation with UTHSC-H and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center . So far, things are exciting and good!
Getting Settled at UTHSC-H
Posted on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 11:31 pm CDT
Well, I've been here about a week, and I'm starting to get settled here at the School of Health Information Sciences here at UTHSC-H. I've met with several of my new colleagues to discuss several exciting projects that are either ongoing or will be started soon. I'll update my research projects page as soon as it's appropriate. However, even after just a few days here, I can see that this is an exhilarating environment, and I hope to work here for some time to come
The support staff at SHIS have been terrific, and I even have the future URL for this website: http://biomathematics.shis.uth.tmc.edu . This is my first web address that doesn't involve a "tilde" (other than our family's undeveloped personal site ). How cool is that?! :-)
So, this should be a wild ride, and I'll look forward to updating this news feed! -- Paul
